Basketball Recap: Corcoran Takes Down Farmersville in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Corcoran had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 53-41 win over the Farmersville Aztecs on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Kaelynn Castillo was nothing short of spectacular: she went 10-for-18 on her way to 25 points. What's more, she also posted a 56% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Luna, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Corcoran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7.4 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.6.

Despite the loss, Farmersville still got an impressive performance from Janessa Garza, who had 22 points and six boards. Garza is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 34 games she's played dating back to last season. Leila Juarez was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Corcoran pushed their record up to 17-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points over those games. As for Farmersville, their loss dropped their record down to 15-15.

Corcoran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-47 defeat against Lindsay on the 20th. Farmersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
