Softball Game Preview: Webster Groves Statesmen vs. Lutheran South Lancers

The Webster Groves Statesmen will head out to challenge the Lutheran South Lancers at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

Westminster Christian hit Webster Groves with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Statesmen lost 8-0 to the Wildcats. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Statesmen were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran South). They came out on top against Fort Zumwalt North by a score of 11-6 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Webster Groves' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lutheran South, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-7-1.

Webster Groves couldn't quite finish off Lutheran South when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Statesmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
