Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Foothill Mustangs
After three games on the road, Valley is heading back home. They will take on the Foothill Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 21, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Cordova, falling 56-20.
Despite the defeat, Valley had strong showings from Ximena Ramirez, who scored eight points along with five rebounds, and Jordyn Gibson, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gibson posted two or more blocks.
Meanwhile, Foothill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 52-20 loss at the hands of Cordova.
Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Foothill, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-10.
Valley came up short against Foothill in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-46. Thankfully for Valley, Fatima Aguilar (who scored 18 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
