Softball Game Preview: Oelwein Huskies vs. North Fayette Valley

The Oelwein Huskies will head out on the road to take on North Fayette Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Oelwein will be strutting in after a win while North Fayette Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Oelwein's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over South Winneshiek. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Meanwhile, North Fayette Valley fell victim to Kee and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 8-0 to the Kee Hawks. North Fayette Valley has struggled against Kee recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

North Fayette Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 18-16. As for Oelwein, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Oelwein came out on top in a nail-biter against North Fayette Valley in their previous matchup back in July of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
