Softball Recap: Hastings' Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Hastings dropped to 12-4 on Saturday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gretna Dragons. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 12-0 to the Dragons when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gretna, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Gretna's part, they got a great performance from Ava Nance as she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Nance a new career-high.

At the plate, Gretna's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Megan Marshall, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

While Hastings had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
