Mater Dei is a perfect 5-0 against Rosary Academy since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mater Dei Monarchs will challenge the Rosary Academy Royals at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mater Dei is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let La Canada onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Spartans are ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Phoebe Ganion and Addy Rodriguez scored both of Mater Dei's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Rosary Academy hasn't lost a match since December 28, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged South out 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for the Royals as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Rosary Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Mater Dei came out on top in a nail-biter against Rosary Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Dei since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
