Softball Recap: Palmer Ridge Beats Pueblo Central for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Palmer Ridge walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Pueblo Central Wildcats on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pam Boyarko made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Palmer Ridge got a massive performance out of Savanah Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Martinez has posted since back in September. Tehani Lum-Perreira was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Palmer Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Central only posted a batting average of .240.

The win was the fourth in a row for Palmer Ridge, bringing their record up to 23-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pueblo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

As of now, neither Palmer Ridge nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
