Soccer Recap: Richland County Comes Up Short

Richland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln Railsplitters. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Richland County came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Lincoln are ranked 394th).

Richland County's loss dropped their record down to 10-5-2. As for Lincoln, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-13.

Coming up, Richland County will square off against Mattoon at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Newton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
