High school baseball rankings: Friendswood drops 23 spots in MaxPreps Top 25 after being upended by Barbers Hill in Texas 5A postseason

Mustangs were No. 1 two weeks ago after a 30-0 start to season.

Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu, Texas) ended the greatest baseball season in Friendswood history over the weekend with an 8-2, 5-2 sweep that advanced the Eagles to the Class 5A state tournament and dropped Friendswood 23 spots in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school baseball rankings.

Barbers Hill entered the rankings at No. 24 this week while Friendswood, which was threatening Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) for the No. 1 overall ranking, dropped to No. 25. Barbers Hill was the only new team in this week's rankings after Butler (Vandalia, Ohio) lost to Elder (Cincinnati) in the Ohio Division 1 quarterfinals.

St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.), meanwhile, leapfrogged IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) to No. 2 with a pair of impressive playoff wins.

Dropped out:
Butler (Vandalia, Ohio)

Game of the Week: Keller 6, Southlake Carroll 4. Just one out away from an opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the seventh, Southlake Carroll gave up five straight walks to score two Keller runs (one on a balk). Keller set down the Dragons in order in the bottom of the seventh to advance to the state tournament.

Player of the Week: Jake Dresselhouse, St. Mary Prep, blasted two more home runs last week, giving him a team-best 13 for the season.

Recruit watch: Daylen Lile, Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) continues to hit them out of the ballpark as he moved to third place on the national home runs leaderboard with 16 round-trippers. He had a home run against Atherton and another against Portland Christian.

Game to watch: Smithson Valley vs. Rockwall-Heath. Smithson Valley is the hottest team in the Class 6A playoffs, going 29-2 since starting the season 6-3. Rockwall-Heath, meanwhile, knows how to play from behind. The Hawks have trailed in three of their four playoff series, but have won the final two games three times to advance to the state tournament.

Streaks: Webster (Wis.) upped its win streak to 53 games. The total moves Webster into a four-way tie with Amsterdam (N.Y.), Omaha Northwest (Neb.) and Garber (Okla.) for 29th place on the list of longest all-time win streaks. Webster finishes the regular season Tuesday vs. Clear Lake.
