Olathe West hasn't had much luck against Mill Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Owls will challenge the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Olathe West will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Olathe West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Gardner-Edgerton, who was ranked ninth at the time (Olathe West was ranked 22nd). The Owls blew past the Trailblazers 49-21 on Thursday. That looming 49-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Owls yet this season.

Olathe West's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Hale, who threw for 316 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes. The Owls also got help from Josh Foland, who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mill Valley challenged Shawnee Mission Northwest on Friday. The Jaguars breezed past the Cougars to the tune of 56-24. Considering the Jaguars have won four games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mill Valley's win came from a few key players Olathe West will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Blake Jay, who rushed for 129 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 107 yards on only nine passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Reggie Reece was another major influence, as he rushed for 125 yards and ran in a TD.
Mill Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Mill Valley's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points over those games. As for Olathe West, their record now sits at 4-1.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: Sam Krzykowski and Jay. Krzykowski just won't slow down this season and has caught 10 touchdowns while averaging 135 receiving yards per game. Jay has been a dominant force too and has averaged 68.6 passing yards per game.
Olathe West lost to Mill Valley on the road by a decisive 47-32 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
