Football Game Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Cherokee Warriors + How To Watch

The Marietta Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Cherokee Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marietta has four straight victories, Cherokee has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Marietta won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by North Cobb 36-35. The win almost wasn't to be: the Blue Devils were down 35-17 in the third quarter.

Marietta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Whiteside out in front who threw for 323 yards and three TDs while completing 84% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Whiteside a new career-high in passer rating (163.8). Marietta's leading receiver Elijah Green was Whiteside's top target yet again, picking up 130 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-25, which was the final score in Cherokee's tilt against North Cobb on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cherokee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 204th, while North Cobb is ranked 29th).

Marietta will have to contain Brandon Hamilton as he made an impact in Cherokee's last game. He rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Hamilton's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

The win got Marietta back to even at 4-4. As for Cherokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Marietta didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cherokee when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 25-20 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Warriors' Tanner Savasir, who rushed for 98 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also threw for 236 yards on 24 of 38 attempts.
