Recap: Oxnard Yellowjackets vs. El Camino Real Royals
The Oxnard Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past El Camino Real 62-38. Given Oxnard's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while El Camino Real is ranked 276th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oxnard was led to victory by Mikayla Oliver and Sofia Salgado. Oliver scored 17 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds, while Salgado scored 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The contest was Oliver's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Azalea Kubic, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Oxnard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for El Camino Real, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxnard will take on Santa Barbara at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Camino Real will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Foothill Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th.
