Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Yve Young and Mariyah Lewis Lead Serra to Victory

On Saturday, everything went the Serra Cavaliers's way against the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors as the Serra Cavaliers made off with a 55-35 win. With the Cavaliers ahead 30-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Leading Serra to victory were Mariyah Lewis and Yve Young. Lewis went 7 of 12 on her way to 15 points, while Young posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniaya Johnson, who earned four points along with five boards and three steals.

Serra pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.2 points. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 18-8 record.

Serra will challenge Saint Joseph at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Saint Joseph has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
