Softball Recap: Dougherty Trojans vs. Peach County Trojans
Dougherty extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-7. They lost 16-0 to Peach County. That's two games in a row now that Dougherty has lost by exactly 16 runs.
As for Peach County, they now have a winning record of 8-7. The result was nothing new for Peach County, who have now won eight games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
For Peach County's part, Alyssa Crozier was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Crozier has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other batting news, Shaniyah Gibson was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Olivia Wright also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dougherty will head out to face off against Bainbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Peach County, they will square off against Westover at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.82 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
