Basketball Game Preview: Ontario Jaguars vs. Don Lugo Conquistadores

Ontario is 2-8 against Don Lugo since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ontario Jaguars are taking a road trip to square off against the Don Lugo Conquistadores at 4:30 p.m. Ontario's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Don Lugo's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Ontario's usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Chino offense got past them. Ontario lost 61-40 to Chino on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Cowboys are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, Don Lugo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Chaffey. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Conquistadores have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Ontario's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4. As for Don Lugo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Everything came up roses for Ontario against Don Lugo in their previous matchup last Monday, as the team secured a 69-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ontario since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
