Football Game Preview: Highland Cougars vs. Macon Tigers

Highland hasn't had much luck against Macon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Highland has given up an average of 46.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Highland challenged Centralia on Friday. The Cougars were dealt a 54-12 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Panthers are ranked 84th).

Meanwhile, Macon got themselves on the board against Clark County on Friday, but Clark County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 21-0 victory. That 21 point margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

The win got Macon back to even at 3-3. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Highland took a serious blow against Macon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 56-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Ryder Lewis, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
