Baseball Game Preview: Northview Knights vs. Cascade Cadets

The Northview Knights will face off against the Cascade Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Northview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Cascade's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Northview played against Indianapolis Washington on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Cascade is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Edgewood. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cort Hubner looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Toby Savini, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Lewis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory was the third in a row for Cascade, bringing their record up to 14-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northview, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.

Northview came up short against Cascade when the teams last played back in May of 2025, falling 5-1. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
