Basketball Recap: Fresno Comes Up Short

Fresno was the 58-37 winner over Sunnyside when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Fresno Warriors took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sunnyside Wildcats on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ruby Cartwright was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 18 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven boards and six steals for Sunnyside. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cartwright has scored at least a third of Sunnyside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Kirah Standifer, who posted three points and three steals.

Fresno now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Sunnyside, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Buchanan the next time they take the court. Sunnyside will head out to face Buchanan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Fresno will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
