Preview: Buena Park Coyotes vs. Mayfair Monsoons
The Buena Park Coyotes will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mayfair Monsoons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Buena Park will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Buena Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 33 points or more this season. They breezed by Los Alamitos at home to the tune of 67-31. The victory was just what Buena Park needed coming off of a 76-46 defeat in their prior match.
Gloria Barrera was a one-man wrecking crew for Buena Park as she dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mya Barnes, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mayfair's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 70-32 loss at the hands of California. While losing is never fun, Mayfair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 786th, while California is ranked 338th).
Buena Park now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mayfair, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
