Volleyball Recap: Hicksville Aces vs. Eastside Blazers
Hicksville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Eastside Blazers, falling 3-0. The Aces were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-20.
Taylor Slattery paced Hicksville's offense, picking up seven kills. Slattery got some help from McKenna Baird and her 14 assists. Finally, Slattery was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.
Hicksville's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Eastside, their victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 15-8.
Hicksville and Eastside could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. The Aces will square off against Edon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (589 vs. 286). Meanwhile, Eastside (ranked 148th) will meet Angola (ranked 41st) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
