Volleyball Recap: Andrews Comes Up Short

Andrews was the 3-2 winner over Swain County when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maroon Devils on Thursday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Maroon Devils 25-18 in the first set.

Andrews started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Andrews saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juliet Holloway had 15 digs, ten kills, and four aces. Holloway is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least seven every time she's taken the court this season. Drea Cutshaw was another key player, getting 13 assists and ten digs.

Andrews has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Swain County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8.

Andrews wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Hayesville on the 7th. As for Swain County, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Murphy on the 7th.
