Basketball Recap: Freedom Skates Past Deer Valley with Ease

Freedom had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Deer Valley on Thursday. The Freedom Falcons really took it to the Deer Valley Wolverines for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-26 win. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Ariel De La o was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Anisa Blalock, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Freedom smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Deer Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Freedom will take on Redwood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redwood will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Freedom surely won't give up without a fight. Deer Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
