The Heritage Patriots will take on the South Gwinnett Comets at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage has three straight wins, South Gwinnett has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Heritage's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rockdale County as Heritage made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Patriots have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Lynch made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Lynch was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Heritage let Cal Lumpkin and Denzel Gillespie run wild. Lumpkin went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Gillespie scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most RBI Lumpkin has posted since back in February of 2024. Ryland Holden was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Gwinnett came up short against Heritage on Monday, falling 18-2.
Derek Patterson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Heritage's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Gwinnett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
South Gwinnett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Heritage has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. It's a different story for South Gwinnett, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Heritage's hitters?
