Basketball Recap: Waterford Comes Up Short

Waterford lost against Mariposa County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Waterford Wildcats took a blow against the Mariposa County Grizzlies, falling 65-25. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-8.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mariposa County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Hansen, who posted eight points and six steals. Hansen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Denise Corona was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and five steals.

Waterford's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Mariposa County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterford will face off against Delhi at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waterford is facing Delhi at the right time seeing as Delhi is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Mariposa County, they will square off against Stone Ridge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
