Baseball Recap: Winamac Comes Up Short

Winamac had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-6 to make it four. They came up short against the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays, falling 7-1. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bluejays earlier this season, when they won 17-0.

Winamac saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Wheeler, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for North Judson-San Pierre, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On North Judson-San Pierre's side, Bradley Irzyk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. Irzyk is becoming a predictor of the Bluejays' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't).

Winamac didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-0 loss against Triton on the 7th. As for North Judson-San Pierre, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-3 defeat against Marquette Catholic on the 8th.
