Basketball Recap: Brooklyn Petty-Wright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairfax over University

It was a proper cat-fight when Fairfax faced off against University on Monday. The Fairfax Lions took a 32-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.

Fairfax lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brooklyn Petty-Wright, who posted 11 points and seven boards. What's more, Petty-Wright also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Kadence Johnson was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.

University can attribute much of their success to Katty Noundjio, who put up 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Noundjio has scored at least a third of University's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Kelly, who had eight points.

Fairfax's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for University, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-12 record.

Fairfax didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-51 win against Venice on the 29th. As for University, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-16 defeat against Westchester on the 29th.
