Football Recap: J.F. Webb Starts Season with Win on the Road

J.F. Webb had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Western Harnett Eagles as they made off with a 46-22 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Warriors just coasted through the last quarter.

Daniel Wright threw for 162 yards and one touchdown. Kaylin Thorpe was his top target, picking up 106 receiving yards. On the ground, Josiah Daniel rushed for 164 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.

Western Harnett lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Creig Matthews, who rushed for 61 yards and one score, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Aiden Shupe, who threw for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. J.F. Webb will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Warren County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Harnett, they will welcome Douglas Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
