Softball Recap: Erie Finds Home Field Redemption Against Mead

There's no place like home for Erie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mead Mavericks by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won four in a row.

Tellena Willert looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August.

At the plate, Avery Barnes was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Haylie Rossetti was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Erie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead only managed eight hits.

Erie's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Mead, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erie will take on Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mead, they will head out to challenge Niwot at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.62 runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
