Recap: Chandler Wolves vs. Cibola Raiders
The Chandler Wolves put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 48-43 W over Cibola. This was payback for Chandler, who suffered a 52-35 loss the last time these two teams met.
Chandler found their leader in underclassman Karis Hurd, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hurd pulled down eight or more rebounds. Averi Mehlberg was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Mariana Vega and Sierra Bomhower certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Vega scored six points along with 25 rebounds and five blocks, while Bomhower scored 19 points. Bomhower scored a full 44.2% of Cibola's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabela Molina, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Chandler's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cibola, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Chandler will head out on the road to face off against Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cibola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfax at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
