Soccer Game Preview: Monroe Area vs. Walnut Grove

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes will venture away from home to face off against the Walnut Grove Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe Area is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Monroe Area's offense. They lost 6-0 to East Hall on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Walnut Grove kept a clean sheet against Ola on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Mustangs. Considering Walnut Grove have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Walnut Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those seven games. As for Monroe Area, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Monroe Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Walnut Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Purple Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
