Softball Recap: Columbus Has No Trouble Against Burke

While Columbus put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Burke. The Discoverers blew past the Bulldogs 19-0. That's more bragging rights for the Discoverers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cali Harrington looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Columbus let Jayden Gernstein and Alayna Kudron run wild. Gernstein went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Kudron went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Naomi Robertson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burke only posted an OBP of .250.

Columbus' record is now 2-0. As for Burke, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Columbus is on the road again on Saturday to play Westview at 10:30 a.m. As for Burke, they will square off against Duchesne/Roncalli at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
