Football Recap: Westerville South Takes a Loss

Westerville South's last matchup with Big Walnut could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Wildcats came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 28-7. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 23rd).

Big Walnut's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Stumpf, who rushed for 35 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 182 yards and one TD while completing 76.9% of his passes. Another back making a difference was Nolan Buirley, who rushed for 138 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

The defeat snapped Westerville South's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record. As for Big Walnut, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.
