Basketball Recap: Burney Find Success

Burney hadn't done well against Redding Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Burney Raiders escaped with a win against the Redding Christian Lions by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Lions back in January, they had to take a 44-32 defeat.

Leading Burney to victory were Alexis Witzel and Aaliyah Perez. Witzel went 7 for 14 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds, while Perez posted ten points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Perez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played.

Burney's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points over those games. As for Redding Christian, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-12.
