Baseball Recap: Coosa's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to Gordon Central the last time they met, Coosa decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Coosa Eagles came out on top against the Gordon Central Warriors by a score of 9-6 on Friday.

Ian Hulsey was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Coosa is 2-1 when Hulsey allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Hulsey was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Coosa got a massive performance out of JJ Warren, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Warren is becoming a predictor of Coosa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Charlie Cannon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Coosa's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Gordon Central, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Coosa will head out on the road to challenge Fannin County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gordon Central, they will be playing at home against Christian Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gordon Central is facing Christian Heritage at the right time seeing as Christian Heritage is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
