Baseball Recap: Union County Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Union County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Coahulla Creek Colts 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Colts on Monday, they had to take a 6-2 defeat.

Maddox Patton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Union County is 6-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-8 otherwise. Patton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Bentley Rich was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Union County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs across that stretch. As for Coahulla Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Union County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Andrews on the 14th. As for Coahulla Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Ringgold on the 11th.
