Baseball Recap: McNary Takes a Loss

McNary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to the Sprague Olympians. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Olympians this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-7 defeat on Wednesday.

Jaymin Dalton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because McNary is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-13 otherwise. Dalton was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, McNary got a massive performance out of Cole McCubbins, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Xavier Gonzalez, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

McNary's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Sprague, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

McNary didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Sandy on the 21st. As for Sprague, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 loss against West Linn on the 19th.
