Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Lugoff-Elgin's Winning Streak

Lugoff-Elgin easily dispatched River Bluff on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Demons fell just short of the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets by a score of 47-44 on Tuesday. The Demons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Diamond Hornets earlier this season, when they won 66-60.

When it comes to explaining why Lugoff-Elgin lost, don't look at JT Williams. Despite the final result, he made all 7 shots he took racking up 14 points and six rebounds. Williams has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 46% every time he's hit the court this season. Malik Woods was another key player, putting up nine points.

Lugoff-Elgin moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Lower Richland, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lugoff-Elgin will welcome Camden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Demons will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lower Richland, they will host White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
