Basketball Recap: Farmersville Skates Past Dos Palos with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Farmersville rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-25 victory over the Dos Palos Broncos. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Janessa Garza was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 12 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Leila Juarez was another key player, putting up nine points and six steals.

Dos Palos' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brionte Neal, who posted 11 points. That was a full 44% of Dos Palos' points, marking the sixth time in a row Neal has put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Athena Correa, who scored nine points.

Farmersville pushed their record up to 15-14 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Dos Palos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Farmersville has already played their next contest, a 53-41 defeat against Corcoran on the 18th. Dos Palos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
