Lake Oconee Academy had won seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 11-10 to make it eight. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Lincoln County Red Devils. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Kaitlyn Mamay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Beth Harris was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Grace Kalmanowicz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Lake Oconee Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln County only posted a batting average of .250.
As for Lincoln County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
On Lincoln County's side, Hannah Grace Moon put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Moon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Moon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Allie Drake Robertson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
