Soccer Game Preview: Encinal vs. Piedmont

Encinal is 2-7 against Piedmont since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Encinal Jets are taking a road trip to face off against the Piedmont Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Encinal is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to Castro Valley. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 803rd, while the Trojans are ranked 373rd).

Meanwhile, Piedmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Bishop O'Dowd, falling 4-0.

Encinal's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Encinal came up short against Piedmont in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Encinal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
