Basketball Recap: Orthopaedic Takes a Loss

Orthopaedic's game on Friday was all tied up 15-15 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to the Central City Value Jaguars 24-19. If the Vipers were looking for revenge after losing 27-17 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Central City Value's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jocelyn Gutierrez led the charge by putting up nine points and four steals. Natasha Garcia was another key player, posting seven points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds.

Orthopaedic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Central City Value, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Orthopaedic and Central City Value's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Orthopaedic will challenge Annenberg at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, a team that's only allowed 14.82 points per game. Similarly, Central City Value and USC-MAE (who has only given up 23.33 points per game) will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
