Excelsior Springs hasn't had much luck against Kearney recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Excelsior Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Winnetonka get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Monday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Griffins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kayden Rogers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Keira Romazon was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Haylee Ray, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Excelsior Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .361 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Kearney put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Smithville. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kate Landewee tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Paalhar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Reese Narron was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Excelsior Springs' record is now 6-1. As for Kearney, their record now sits at 7-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Excelsior Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Kearney struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
