Basketball Game Preview: Conestoga Pioneers vs. Lebanon Cedars

The Conestoga Pioneers will face off against the Lebanon Cedars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Conestoga is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Pennsylvania's top teams: Haverford, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Conestoga was ranked 25th). Conestoga fell 43-35 to Haverford on Friday. Pioneers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Fords since on Friday.

Despite their loss, Conestoga saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ryann Jennings, who posted 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruth Lanouette, who earned ten points.

Meanwhile, Lebanon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 56-50 win over Central Dauphin last Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Cedars sure are getting used to it with their 17th in a row.

Lebanon's victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Conestoga, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8.
