Volleyball Recap: Cary Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Apex, Cary was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Athens Drive Jaguars, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Imps: when they faced off against the Jaguars last Monday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Cary was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-99), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 18-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-25, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Athens Drive saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Annie Baublitz had six digs and three aces. Baublitz is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Cary's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Athens Drive, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cary will venture away from home to face off against Broughton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Athens Drive, they will head out to square off against Felton Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
