Basketball Recap: Downtown Magnets Takes a Loss

Downtown Magnets was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Central City Value Jaguars 40-12. The Suns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 22-2.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Desiree Chavaque and Sophia Hernandez, who each put up five points.

Jocelyn Gutierrez was nothing short of spectacular for Central City Value: she almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Gutierrez is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Dayara Moreno was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds.

Downtown Magnets' loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Central City Value, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Downtown Magnets and Central City Value's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Downtown Magnets and Aspire Ollin (who has only given up 29.33 points per game) will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Central City Value will challenge Annenberg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, a squad that's only allowed 13.33 points per game.
