Recap: Santa Maria Saints vs. Mission College Prep Royals
The Santa Maria Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission College Prep. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santa Maria in their matchups with Mission College Prep: they've now lost four in a row.
Santa Maria's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nevaeh Madrigal, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and Brianna Hill who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Madrigal has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Vasquez, who scored six points.
Leading Mission College Prep to victory were Lillie Parish and Keahi Guy. Parish dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Guy scored 21 points. Makanani Guy was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Santa Maria has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. As for Mission College Prep, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
Santa Maria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mission College Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Paso Robles at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mission College Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
