            Football Recap: Weaver Beavers vs. Cromwell/Portland Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            Weaver came into their game  on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against  the Cromwell/Portland Panthers, falling  49-26. The Beavers were not able to make up for their  loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting  back in October of 2024.
 Weaver's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Kadain Claflin-Coy, who threw for 210 yards and a pair of  touchdowns on only 16 passes.  Jameire Haughton helped  Claflin-Coy out on the ground, rushing for 65 yards and one  score on only eight carries, while also catching one  TD.
 Cromwell/Portland had a senior duo take command as  Michael Sitaro Jr. rushed for 132 yards and three  touchdowns and  Tyler Cipolla gained 235 total yards and three touchdowns. Those three  rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for  Sitaro Jr.
Weaver's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Cromwell/Portland, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
 Weaver and Cromwell/Portland will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next  matchups. The next time the Beavers see the field they'll take on Morgan/Old Saybrook/Westbrook  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 23rd. As for Cromwell/Portland, their break will end when they face Valley Regional/Old Lyme  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 24th.
