Basketball Game Preview: Emmaus Hornets vs. Phillipsburg Stateliners

The Emmaus Hornets and the Phillipsburg Stateliners will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Emmaus is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Last Thursday, Emmaus was able to grind out a solid win over Louis E. Dieruff, taking the game 49-42. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Huskies are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Phillipsburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Warren Hills Regional by a score of 45-38 on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Stateliners as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Emmaus pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Phillipsburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Emmaus didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Phillipsburg when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win. Will Emmaus repeat their success, or does Phillipsburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
