Basketball Game Preview: Great Valley Patriots vs. Villa Joseph Marie Jems

The Great Valley Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Villa Joseph Marie Jems at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Great Valley has three straight wins, Villa Joseph Marie has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, everything went Great Valley's way against Oxford as Great Valley made off with a 56-31 victory. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Hornets are ranked 563rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Villa Joseph Marie played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 47-22 to Gwynedd Mercy Academy. The contest marked the Jems' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Great Valley pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Villa Joseph Marie, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
