Baseball Recap: San Ysidro Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

San Ysidro can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Valhalla Norsemen by a score of 6-1. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Norsemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Antonio Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Ysidro is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Soto was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Soto wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Orozco, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Armann Robles also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

San Ysidro now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Valhalla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

San Ysidro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-6 win against El Capitan on the 21st. As for Valhalla, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Mira Mesa on the 21st.
